EDDY CURRENT INSPECTION

Eddy current (EC) inspection is used in a variety of industries to detect flaws and make measurements.

EC uses electromagnetic induction to detect discontinuities (i.e. cracking) in conductive materials at or near the surface of the material.

The biggest advantage is that EC testing can be conducted on clean painted/coated surfaces, opposed to MPI inspection which requires all coating to be removed.

This makes EC testing a cost effective method  for:

  • 10 yearly major NDT inspections on cranes, EPWs, and mobile machinery

  • Tower crane pre-erection inspection

  • Crack detection where coating can't be removed.
